16.01.08 - LSC allocate more funds to Skills Advantage
Due to demand, the LSC have reallocated funds into the Skills Advantage programme. The programme has now been given the capacity to deliver more Organisational Needs Analysis and book more people onto the very popular Masterclass programme.
Darren Richards, Programme Director said 'We are very excited by this positive news, over the next three months we are focused on helping more and more companies gain access to this free training. We have scheduled more Masterclasses to cope with the demand. We now urge anyone who wants to take part in this programme to register quickly so as not to miss out.'

14.01.08 - First Factory Tour Success
The first Skills Advantage Factory Tour took place on 11th March at Elements Europe with positive feedback. The visit was a huge success with delegates from contractors to manufacturers attending the pod manufacturing facility in Oswestry.
Wayne Morgan, Managing Director of Elements Europe and the host to the Factory Tour said, ‘We felt that the Factory Tour was a positive move forward, we had an excellent range of people who gained a real insight into our manufacturing processes. Skills Advantage is the sort of initiative that is moving Offsite Construction in the Midlands in the right direction. We’re looking forward to the next tour in February.’
More Factory Tours are scheduled in over the next few months as they complement the Skills Advantage Masterclass programme.

18.12.07 - Positively Skills Advantage
The positive response that Skills Advantage has received so quickly after its launch, shows that the West Midlands construction sector is being inspired and getting ready to improve their skills. The Skills Advantage initiative, launched in September 2007, is a significant attempt to meet the far reaching plans set by the Governments house-building, education and healthcare build programme targets. Even at this early stage, Skills Advantage has already engaged with over 35 companies and is receiving positive feedback regarding the bespoke Masterclass programme. The first set of Masterclass programmes, attended by a broad mix of organisations, including; adhesive manufacturers, steel rollformers, architects, developers & registered social landlords have exceeded expectations. Programme Coodinator, Rhonda Farr said 'We are very excited by this positive reaction, and over the next three months we are looking forward to helping more and more companies gain access to free training. We really want Skills Advantage to help create a positive impact in the West Midlands construction sector.'
With the funds secured, only 70 organisations can be assisted and a maximum of 210 individuals can be put through the training courses, so don't delay as places are limited!

11.12.07 - Skills Advantage Programme half way through !
The Skills Advantage programme is about half way through and isproving extremely popular, especially in relation to the Masterclass programme. Four Masterclasses have now taken place at the WMCCE offices in Birmingham with 15-20 delegates attending each. Delegates who have engaged in the Masterclass programme so far have included Manufacturers, Architects, Contractors and RSL's, all looking tomaximise the benefits of accessing the fast growing Offsite Construction industry. In 2008, Masterclasses will be held in both Shrewsbury & Birmingham with the added chance for delegates to attend factory tours & site visits!

12.11.07 - Skills Advantage Masterclass Programme proving popular !
The Skills Advantage Masterclass programme, launched at the beginning of November has received an unprescedented number of enquiries and registrations from companies engaged in the the Skills Advantage ONA/INA process.
The first Masterclass - An Overview of the Offsite Sector - to be held on 15 November 2007 in Birmingham will be attended by a broad mix of organisations, including; adhesive manufacturers, steel rollformers, architects, developers and registered social landlords.

04.10.07 - Skills Advantage off to a flying start !
The Skills Advantage programme is now fully up and running, with over 10 organisations already engaged and undergoing Organisational Needs Analysis.
Prgramme Co-ordinator, Rhonda Farr said 'We are extremely pleased with the level of enquiries that we have had to date. The Skills Advantage programme appears to be hiiting the mark in terms of the needs of our West Midlands regional construction sector. We hope that we can maintian this momentum over the next 6months or so.'

The Skills Advantage programme is dedicated to improving the knowledge, training and experience of employees in the West Midlands.
